Well, here we are, the 12th Day of Christmas, la fête des rois, Epiphany! Whatever you like to call it, I hope you’re having fun celebrating. Manu is our “king/queen” for the day. She has ruled that we wear PJs for dinner while snuggling a stuffed animal. The dinner includes pizza, ice cream and a movie. Oh, and the other ruling was to chew as many pieces of gum as you’d like. So, we’re celebrating and having fun. I hope to hear your stories, too!

That’s so great to hear, Mary! Thanks for letting me know. It’s planting those little seeds that will hopefully stick with him. Ian is such a treat to teach and I’m so glad that he’s in extended day this year. What fun we’re having!

Ian couldn’t wait to get home today so he could teach me how to play Achi. He drew the board himself, and explained all the rules. He even “let” me win a couple times.

Hi Nicole,
This afternoon Hannah was teaching little sister Lila (2 years old) how to say petits pois and naming other food words, and later on the way home from Mothers’ Night, sang Pomme de Reinette practically the whole way home to Dover. She said the song was stuck in her head : )

Thanks for responding, Kathy! I think Hannah is getting more French than we realize. Every now and then, I see a spark in her eye and then she gets involved in whatever we’re doing. I think extended day will take some time for her to get used to, but it’ll be great for her to have French twice in the same day.

Bonjour Nicole!

Thanks for blogging about class. I do ask Hannah about French class on Tuesdays. Sometimes she offers something she learned and other times she might make up a word and say it means xyz in French (but I know better – I spent my junior year abroad in Dijon) I let it go, just glad she’s having fun learning a language. I think the nonsense words will turn into French words eventually.

She looks forward to Tuesdays, nice to know she’ll have an afternoon session too in extended day.

Thanks so much for reading and writing, Alice! Fisher was great in class yesterday. He was wonderful about participating. I’m so happy to hear that he talked about French at home. Yippee! I never really know how much sticks, so stories like yours always makes me smile.

I’ll keep writing… I hope you keep reading.
